🧠 Burnout Isn’t Just Being Tired—It’s a Wake-Up Call (From a Hot Mess in Scrubs)

Let’s be honest.

Burnout isn’t cute. It’s not just needing a nap or a girls' weekend.

It’s deep, exhausting, soul-level depletion—and for me, it was a full-body cry for help.

I wasn’t just tired.

I was drowning in responsibility, expectations, and a career that asked me to show up fully… even when I had nothing left to give.

👩🏻‍⚕️ The Truth No One Tells You About Burnout

As a nurse, I learned to push through everything:

12-hour shifts on 4 hours of sleep
Skipping meals because the floor was too busy
Putting everyone else’s needs before mine
Pretending I was fine… when I wasn’t

Sound familiar?

We’re trained to be strong.

To “suck it up” because our patients need us.

But somewhere in all that self-sacrifice, I disappeared.

🚨 Burnout Changed Me

I started waking up already defeated.

Even my days off weren’t restful. Just a loop of guilt, survival, and numbing out.

I wasn’t thriving. I was just coping.

And one day, sitting in my scrubs on the floor of my bathroom, I whispered:

“I can’t do this anymore.”

Not because I didn’t love helping people.

But because I couldn’t help anyone if I didn’t help myself first.

💥 Burnout Broke Me—But It Also Woke Me Up

It wasn’t weakness.

It was wisdom.

Burnout forced me to ask:

What am I holding onto that’s no longer serving me?
Who am I outside of the job?
What would life look like if I chose me for once?

That’s when everything started to shift.

Not overnight. Not perfectly. But honestly.

📖 That’s Why I Wrote Hot Mess in Scrubs

I needed a space to say the things no one was saying.
To cry, laugh, and reclaim my voice as a woman, a nurse, and a human being who had needs too.

Hot Mess in Scrubs isn’t just a book.
It’s a love letter to every exhausted, amazing, over giving soul who’s ever whispered:

“There has to be more than this.”

And there is.
Not just more pressure.
But more peace.
More power.
More permission to heal.

📣 If You’re Feeling the Burnout, You’re Not Alone

You are allowed to:

Say “I’m not okay” without guilt
Rest without earning it
Change your path without apologizing

You don’t have to crash to finally make a change.

But if you already have?

This is your reminder that you can rise again.
